Midnight Hunter by Brianna Hale 📖Review📖

 Title: Midnight Hunter
Author: Brianna Hale
Genre: Dark Historical Romance
Release Date: February 7, 2018
He’s hunting me, and there’s nowhere to run.
East Berlin, 1963.
I thought I understood the consequences of trying to flee to the West. Death. Imprisonment without trial. Instead I’m being hunted by the most dangerous man in the city, secret police officer Reinhardt Volker.
Now I’m his prize, no longer a traitorous factory girl but his elegant and pampered secretary. He wants to possess me, body, soul – and heart. I’ll do anything to get away from him, but first that means getting closer.
I want to feel only hatred for my captor but beneath his uniform I discover a man with a past as scarred as Berlin’s. And if I don’t
escape him soon it will be too late.

‘No. I will not let you go.’ His mouth is close to my ear and he doesn’t need to speak above a harsh, sinister whisper. ‘You don’t need reminders of your old life as you are never going back. Do you understand? This is your life now. You’re mine.’
Hearing him lay it out so coldly and brutally takes my breath away. I wish his housekeeper and secretary could see him now. They haven’t felt him ruthlessly hunt them down, catch them, possess them. Take sadistic pleasure in trapping them, body
and soul. ‘You can’t make me forget who I am. I’ll always remember, and I’ll always hate you for what you’ve done.’
There’s so much scorn and amusement in that one brief question. His breath is warm against my ear and I feel him looking down at me, enjoying that he has me
his mercy. He plants a slow, tender kiss on the side of my neck and I feel my pulse thundering beneath his lips. It’s a kiss that belies the cold cruelty of his words and the steel of his embrace. It’s the kiss of a lover, soft and sensuous, and something clenches low in my belly in response.
I expected cruelty, and armed myself against brutality, but I wasn’t prepared for this. I wasn’t prepared for him to be gentle and I don’t know how to fight it. He shifts his arms, one hand moving to caress my throat and I draw in a soft breath of surprise and need. He feels it, and his lips move up to my jaw,
trailing burning kisses.
No, please, I don’t want this. He can’t strip me of my will to resist him along with everything else. I will garb myself in hatred for him. I will steep my body in antipathy and rage.
Even so, it takes every ounce of strength I have to speak. ‘I’ll never be yours.’
But it comes out as a breathy whisper, not the defiant shout I wanted it to be.
His lips curve into a smile against my throat. ‘Oh, Liebling. Yes, you will. I have not even begun to try and you are already giving in.’

My Review for Midnight Hunter

So this book took me out of my comfort zone with it being something I don’t normally read. This is a history(ish) kind of book. There is a lot of information when it comes to the German Wall, West, and East Germany. But while the aftermath of the Nazi’s and the war is going on some of the people on the east are trying to get over to the west. That is where our characters meet.

Reinhardt Volker is a high ranking officer for the secret service of the east and he has done unimaginable things but he believes in what he does for himself, not for the government. But there are things he does in secret to vindicate himself that no one knows about.
When he meets Evony he finds his Valkyrie. The one person in his life that he will never let go. So he has her become his secretary and lives with him.

“If you ever get away from me, I will tear West Berlin apart looking for you. Nothing short of death would keep me from coming for you.”

The back and forth between these two is so heartbreaking for them both. The emotion is gut-wrenching that I could not put this book down. But the faith in each other also tears at your heartstrings. When they both have to option to leave each other they still stick together. That is the love you want in a love story.

I wanted to read this book just by the synopsis, but once I got into it, this is a book that will draw you in and not let go. A must read of 2018!

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 13, 2018
From USA Today bestselling author Willow Winters, comes a provocative, standalone, contemporary romance.
Some men are born with a black heart and a tainted soul.
I never liked to admit it back then; I thought I could outrun who I am and lie to myself. But I accept the truth now. It’s in my blood and in my bones.
In every impure thought and desire. I tried to leave. To do the right thing and walk away from my past. But then she came back into my life.
Stumbling towards me and looking up at me as if I’m the one she’s been looking for all this time. As if I could be her savior and take her pain away.
If only she knew. She turns me into what I hate most about myself.
Selfish, ruthless, possessive. I tried to be a good man. To be cold and distant and warn her away. She should have taken the hint and run. She didn’t…

And now she’s mine.

❣️❣️My Review of Possessive ❣️❣️

So this is Possessive by Willow Winters. I am a huge fan of hers, and her recent books have been on the darker side.
This story is a spin-off to ‘She Asked For It.’ So it still has a dark shade to it, but not to bad.
Daniel, we met briefly in ‘She Asked For It’ is part of a drug-dealing family. He has four other brothers and they are all very close. His youngest brother is dating Addison. Who Daniel is secretly in love with.
Addison is dating Tyler, but when she meets Daniel, she starts getting feelings for him. Addie starts practically living with the boys family because her foster family sucks. So that makes the feelings even harder to hide.
But what happens when one night something tearable happens and you blame yourself? Neither Addie or Daniel had any say in what happened, but their guilt still haunts them.
Like I said, this story isn’t as dark, but it is really good. Daniel has a lot of explaining to do. And Addie can decide how much her love for him means to her. Will love to conquer all of these two?

Author Bio

Willow Winters is so happy to be a USA Today, Wall Street Journal and #1 Contemporary Bestselling Romance Author. She likes her action hot and her bad boys hotter. She certainly doesn’t hold back on either one in her writing!

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!
