Two billionaires determined to claim her.
And a war fought on the most dangerous battlefield–the heart.“What an incredible book! Survival of the Richest has everything —
Skye Warren’s beautiful writing, a sexy, compelling story; intricate
characters, and a provocative love triangle that will captivate you until the
very end.” ~ New York Times bestselling author Nina Lane
My story starts with a plunge into the cold water of Manhattan’s harbor.
A strong hand hauls me back onto the deck of the luxury yacht. Christopher was
supposed to be my enemy. Instead he protects me with fierce determination.
That should have been my happily ever after, but then Sutton appeared–ruthless
and seductive. He doesn’t care that my heart belongs to someone else, because
he’s determined to win. No matter the cost.
It’s an impossible choice, but I can’t have them both.
I love Skye Warren. This book well, it is just not what I expected at all. It blew me away. I will say that I had some misguided feelings throughout this book. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Harper in some of this book but I understood her feelings and her actions. The ending threw me away. #TeamIhavenoideayet #TeamHarperforsure
Harper is a strong, independent woman that loves her parents. Too bad they are totally crazy. So she doesn’t believe in love or money. Even though her father is a billionaire, he doesn’t treat her like that. She is to earn everything.
So when her father remarries (which he and her mother do a lot) and she earns a new stepbrother they quickly become friends. Christopher is everything she knows her father would want in a child.
Years later when they get together for Harpers art show, a tragedy happens that will change their relationship forever.
because I’m in pain too.
talking about Sutton. He’s talking about himself and we both know it.
he dips my head back and deepens it, exploring my mouth with his teeth, his tongue. Opening me wider until I whimper. Pulling me close until I can feel how hard he is beneath his slacks.
Skye Warren is the New York Times bestselling author of contemporary romance such as the Chicago Underground series. Her books have been featured in Jezebel, Buzzfeed, USA Today Happily Ever After, Glamour, and Elle Magazine. She makes her home in Texas with her loving family, two sweet dogs, and one evil cat.
I have read all of Ashley’s books. I really didn’t think she could surprise me after reading the [book:Blame It on the Shame: Complete Series|34626730]. That was a dark series and brought a lot of emotions forward good and bad.
Then you have the Duet [book:Complicated Hearts|33235918], [book:Complicated Hearts|34670193], which you should probably read before you read this story since you will get the beginning of Preston and Kit. But like Ashley does say you don’t HAVE to read them.
So on to this book, again holy shit. Preston is an asshole in the finest ways. He is a gambler a compulsive one at that. But he is a broken man and when a man is broken they do stupid shit.
Kit is beautiful in everything she does. But she has had a crappy life. But she wears her heart on her sleeves and will love with all her heart.
These two people have no reason to be in a relationship BUT they are and you have to read this book to find out why. I will not give anything away. But I will say that if there is one book you read this year it HAS TO BE THIS ONE!

Author: Maria Luis
Again what a rollercoaster ride. I haven’t felt a hangover like this in a while. Maria brings you right into the middle of these peoples lives and drops you in. Love it!
Now we know more about what is going on with Avery and Lincoln. We have their past and some of what they want for their future. But man we have no idea the depths these bad people will go to get what they want. And what they want is the city of New Orleans.
Avery and Lincoln need each other and whatever friends they still have at the end of this to come out alive. But what secrets will they find and what secrets might tear them apart?
I loved this duet and I will be reading more of Maria’s books. I am a big fan now.
What a great freaking book!! I devoured my first Maria Luis book.
This story starts out with a bang and keeps you guessing all the way to the end, which of course ends on a cliff. But that is okay TRUST ME!
Avery is a 13-year-old girl when she ends up on the streets. She has to become unknown and a shadow to stay safe. Now at 25, she has become many people but she is Avery Washington a tarot card reader. She is a loner that has secrets that could get her killed, or so she believes.
Lincoln Asher has a history that is not pretty. He is a detective, killer, drug runner, and so much more. But in the very core of his soul, he has a heart, it just hasn’t beat for a very long time. But when he meets Avery on chance, he finds a young woman that defies everything he believes and sees him for what he could become not what he was.
I loved this story and couldn’t wait for the next one.
When she’s not writing about strong men and the sassy women who sweep them off their feet, Maria is a historian who specializes in medieval England and 19th century New Orleans. What do the two eras have in common, you ask? Not much, except for disease, scandalous activities and crime–Maria’s favorite topics.
Maria lives in New Orleans with her better half, where she can generally be found hiking with her two dogs, Zeus and Athena, kayaking in Louisiana’s inter-coastal waterways, or curled up on the couch with a good book.

My Review about Safe in His Storm
This is my first Annalise book and I loved it. Safe in His Storm is a story between Gabi and Jake. It is surrounded by the D/s theme so if that is not your kind of reading don’t read this story.
Gabi is a troubled young woman that is living her life to the fullest that she can get without dealing with her past. She is happy letting her past memories staying there and moving forward. When her friends have a wedding that she is in charge of putting together she finds out a little about the D/s lifestyle.
Jake has just dealt with his wife/submissives death. It has been a year and a half and he is ready to get back out there. He doesn’t know what he is really ready for but he knows he is ready for something. So when he sees Gabi at the wedding he knows what he wants.
Jake finding out Gabi has no idea what D/s is isn’t sure if he wants to take a newbie under his wing, but the chemistry between them is too much for him to deny. And Gabi is willing to try but is very honest about maybe not being what he is needing. So we are walked through the two of them learning each other. But while we are doing this (which is not boring or long) we start to learn a little about Gabi and her past. Which she is still adamant about not wanting to remember.
With this being a duet we are left with a cliffhanger. But it is one I am waiting for!
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
Then, a moment of guilt passed over him when he realized he hadn’t thought about Lisa like he used to. Oh, she was there on a daily basis, but not like it had been before. Not the same deafening, emptiness he’d grown used to. Now, it was more of a dull ache only felt when summoned. And with that thought, he
dismissed any lingering guilt. He’d said his goodbye and was moving forward the way he’d intended. And he’d
tell Gabrielle about her soon enough. “Yes,” he simply replied.
Annalise Delaney’s love of romance spans from tales of knights in shining armor bravely rescuing the girl to those of damsels who need rescuing but put up a fight—because what fun would it be otherwise?
Writing occupied her time when age-appropriate books put her to sleep. However, the books tucked in the bottom drawer of her mother’s dresser overflowed with love, lust, betrayal, and revenge—making for far better reads. VC Andrews’ imaginative and twisted stories started it all.
